Work

Tiring.
Work piles up
like snow, when you don't shovel
for a few minutes, it grows.
10 hours a day,
give or take a few.

Wanting to rest, but
the massive amount has
you under submission.
You do as it says, or
you'll regret it.

Snow

I stare out the window,
at the end of the day.
A whirlwind of white
dancing around.

As I go outside
on the blanket of snow,
I look up at the sky.
Sweet.

Another World

I lose my bearings,
absorbed in the experience.
Of magic, mysteries, and legends.
Horrific.
The many adventures-
Exciting and thrilling,
sad, or gloomy.
No matter which book,
it's always terrific.

             Irene or Sandy? That is the Question.

                        You can hear the wind howl as the trees sway to and fro, on the brink of destruction. You notice your bedside lamp flicker as the power goes on and off. Suddenly, the lights go out. What will happen next? This was the experience of many Hurricane Irene victims, as well as the numerous of Super storm Sandy(Frankenstorm) victims. In the past year, two major storms affected the East Coast of the USA. These two natural disasters were a huge impact in the East. However, as similar as these two storms may seem, in Edison, Sandy was on a whole different level than Irene.

       The two storms impacted the surrounding areas very differently. In the week that Irene hit, many wondered whether or not it would hit New Jersey. Fortunately, it headed along the shore, missing NJ. There were minimal damages, but all was well. Sandy however, wasn’t so light. During this super storm, thousands of people evacuated, and millions of people lost power for more than a week. Atlantic City was underwater, and almost all coastal cities were flooded. This devastating destruction could not have been any farther from Irene’s own. So really, although they were both storms, Sandy was way more devastating, don’t you agree?                                   

 

                        Texas or Chicago, Which will it Be?

  Running through the vast plain, playing with your friends, taking in the hot summer sun, this is all possible in the state of Texas. Texas can be enjoyable and refreshing with the open lands. Or shopping in the jostling streets of Chicago, one of the most famous cities in the US. These two places, though both are the perfect vacation, are different in both environment, and entertainment.
          Hot. This is the first impression many people would get after getting off the airplane, or out of the car. Texas is located in the south, where it is really dry. There are not many trees that require lots of water, though there may be a few. Most of the trees demand little water. Although at first glance, Texas may seem very eco-friendly, it would be the seventh world's largest greenhouse gas producer(1.5 trillion pounds) if it were an independent nation. So really, Texas isn't all that clean. On the other hand, Chicago is a more humid area, though still pretty hot. Chicago has many tall buildings, and lots of precipitation. Chicago only releases about 69.4 billion pounds of greenhouse gases.
          Texas is all about being active. If you like shopping, or lounging around, Texas isn't really your place.  
 In Texas, you can play tennis, you can swim, and you could do many other activities.  It is all about being outdoors. In contrast, Chicago is the heaven for shoppers and tourists. The famous towers, the Willis Tower, as well as the John Hancock Building, are the tallest buildings in Chicago. You can see the whole Chicago skyline from the top! So these two areas can really be preferable, depending on the person.
         As you can see, Texas and Chicago are both really good places to go. Each area has its own climate, as well as pastimes. So you can go to places you want. Though these two aren't the only places in America to visit.  But all in all, Texas and Chicago really are great places to go

               One word to describe me is quiet. I am usually not the first one to speak, or shout. This has had a definite impact on my middle school life. When you finish reading this piece, you will know why.
            I have always been quiet in my life, but usually only when I am uncomfortable with the person, or something is bothering me. Although, I have a few friends outside of school that were probably my best friends since the first day I met them. I can talk comfortably with them. Being quiet has made me someone who doesn't have too little, or too many friends. But I guess that changed sometime when I wasn't looking.
           When I first entered middle school, I didn't know how to act. I always thought it was better to have a couple of really close friends, instead of a lot of not-so-close friends. So I tried to be more talkative, and by the end of the year, I found myself with lots of good friends. Yes, I may not be the most social person in the school, I may not have the most friends, but I'm glad that I changed.
